From today's Wall Street Journal Political Diary:
The Book of TomPolls show Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle tied with his GOP opponent John Thune in South Dakota. One reason may be a slim book that is being distributed free door to door by 500 Young Republicans.
"The Other Side of Tom Daschle" highlights the contrast between what it says is Mr. Daschle's South Dakota rhetoric and his Washington voting record. Author Talmage Ekanger, a South Dakota lawyer, says his 96-page book was designed to be read in an hour by busy people. It appears to be having an impact. Mr. Ekanger's bookstore appearances have taken on the air of campaign events with the Barnes and Noble store in Sioux Falls ordering 500 copies for an event this Saturday. Mr. Daschle says the book distorts his 26-year record in Congress but he has declined to issue a specific rebuttal.
The book is now available online in PDF format. Download DaschleBook.pdf. Take an hour and read it and send in your thoughts (I haven't had time yet).
