The Daschle campaign sponsored another absurd press conference today in Sioux Falls protesting criticism of Linda Daschle for conflicts of interest in her lobbying. The response of the of the Daschle spokeswomen was Everybody Does It. The main speaker mentioned others who may have a conflict of interest such as Speaker Hastert, recognized there may be an ethical problem, and then said "that's a debate that should be taking place, but not during a Senate race"!!! Then when the h__l should we have it?!? Apparently some people are breaking the rule: no criticism of His Highness Senator Daschle during an election year! Don't you fools know--he's above criticism. Anyway, playing the victim is probably the best defense for Daschle here, because there really is no logical defense. The liberal Washington Monthly article entitled "Tom Daschle's Hillary Problem: If the Senate Majority Leader runs for president what will voters think of his lobbyist wife?" is a must-read on this front. After listening to all the complaints from Daschle, you should also read about their "Sopranos-style tactics" against their opponents.
