From the mailbag:
According to Roll Call, Daschle is planning on spending between $15 and $20 million for his re-election campaign. Using the lower figure and dividing it by 465,000 registered voters in South Dakota works out to $32.25 per voter!Daschle’s fundraising binge smashes the previous record set by Democrat Senator Jon Corzine in New Jersey of $13 per voter. If anyone could ever be said to be buying an election, it's Tom Daschle.
The top contributors to Daschle’s campaign are lawyers and law firms who have given over $1.6 million to the Senator. This is money well spent. Daschle has filibustered medical liability and tort reform, costing consumers billions in higher premiums and prices.
The senator has clout alright. The only trouble is that you have to buy a share of Daschle, Inc. in order to benefit from it.
Again, thanks to my readers. You do your homework. My apologies for not getting to everything you send in.
