The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is taking on water. One commentator says the debate is "also about a larger set of issues that gets to the heart of who controls information." Meanwhile, Randell Beck of the Argus Leader--you know, of 'Hitler would have been blogger' fame--is taking more shots at bloggers, i.e. "people who become fixated on viewing life as a conspiracy and fail to let the facts get in their way." Beck apparently still maintains the position that bloggers are a "cabal" of "violent" "yahoos" and continues to ignore the very reasonable Argus Leader reforms set forth in the "THE SIOUX FALLS PLATFORM: AN AGENDA FOR ARGUS LEADER REFORM." Said proposal would be the perfect basis rational discussion of the situation at the Argus, but Beck won't address them. When I presented some of this information to a Sioux Falls Rotary Club and Beck was supposed to follow the next week and present his views, he cancelled his appearance and said he wouldn't address them. This from the newspaper that is always preening about how "We need openness. Always."
