Normally bipartisan Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley rips Daschle again:
Grassley also said that the president should work harder to stop Sen. Tom Daschle, D-S.D., from making the Senate a “Daschle graveyard” for nominations and energy and tax bills. . “The Bush program is stopped in the Senate, but Bush won’t take on Daschle ... that’s why Daschle is getting away with what he’s getting away with,” Grassley said. “I just use that as an example that the president doesn’t want to get in the mud.”
Grassley also gave a long and detailed speech in the US Senate in May explaining in detail how cynically Daschle treated the ethanol bill which is so important in South Dakota. The Argus Leader has consistently ignored Grassley's critically-important statements on Daschle and ethanol. For what really happened to the ethanol bill, see "The Ethanol Moment." For Grassley to be this angry speaks volumes about how he views Daschle's manipulation of the ethanol bill. Daschle's cynicism is catching up to him.
