Last Wednesday's Kranz column notes this:
Sen. Tom Daschle is characterized by critics as being close to Michael Moore, whose controversial documentary, "Fahrenheit 9/11" is now showing. But area residents who saw the film say there may be a reason why Daschle left the movie early.
First, it's not just "critics" who are characterizing Daschle as being close to Moore. It's Moore himself, as the hug and apology noted in the Time magazine piece indicate. Second, what's this spin about Daschle "leaving early." That's clearly untrue, as the Time piece indicates. Daschle gave Moore the "hug" AFTER the movie, i.e. he couldn't have left early.
UPDATE: From the Argus, 6-26-04: "In a statement issued Friday, Daschle said he arrived late because he was giving a speech at a charity event and LEFT EARLY to return to the Senate to vote." So even the statement issued by Daschle's office was, well, let's just say incorrect. Daschle obviously wants to hide his connection to Moore, but Moore exposed him.
UPDATE: Hezbollah is promoting the Moore movie in the Middle East. (hit tip to Sibby).
