Bruce Whalen, Thune Supporter, with Pine Ridge in background.
This long AP story about Thune courting Indian voters, mentioned yesterday, ran on the front page of today's Rapid City and Mitchell papers. Note: it did not run in the Sioux Falls Argus Leader, which hasn't even reported that Russell Means is supporting Thune. What a shame that the Argus Leader, which, shall we say, has a lot of bias issues, may bollix up what could be a grand Senate race. It's shameful. And it distorts the democratic process. Another irony: the Argus ran a long series on Indian issues last year that they've been bragging about in recent days.
UPDATE: here's an outrageous example of Argus double standards.
UPDATE II: a reader says that this in-depth analysis of Daschle's spending "spree" which appeared in Roll Call also appeared as a front-page story in the Mitchell Daily Republic on February 28th. The Argus sure misses a lot of stories. That is if they don't help Daschle.
UPDATE III: a national blogger tracking media bias has tapped South Dakota Politics to keep an eye on the Argus Leader. No small task it appears.
UPDATE IV: South Dakota Politics, who's been tracking this situation for months, weighs in on the Argus problem.
