Today's Argus Leader also includes an editorial (not on-line) about Daschle's inability to make a decision on the Laci Peterson law. Excerpt:
Sen. Tom Daschle's, D-S.D., position is more obscure. In letters to constituents, he has written, "The Laci Peterson case is a tragic reminder that, in many instances of violence against women, not only the woman is harmed." Yet, he has made no commitment to oppose the single-victim bill or to support the unborn victims bill.
This seems like a pattern. Daschle waited until the eleventh hour to make a decision on the energy bill and on gun control. Apparently, Daschle wants to avoid criticism for the position he finally takes for as long as possible. Also see this Bob Mercer story on the Laci Peterson bill.
