Kranz and Quote

Remember that quote from Senator Abdnor in the New York Times Magazine that the Daschle campaign quickly spread around and Dave Kranz of the Argus Leader dutifully spread even further? Turns out it's baloney. Funny how Kranz scrutinizes and debunks anything critical of Daschle but immediately puts into print anything that may hurt Thune. This turn of events was predicted several weeks ago. Will the Argus Leader fix this? Speaking of Kranz, do you think he reported in his column today on the NY Times story about Daschle's frolic through the Hamptons, the Jackon Mississippi newspaper's report about Daschle's secret trial lawyer fundraiser held while skipping a South Dakota debate, the Lakota Journal story about the mysterious Daschle/tribal leader meeting Daschle promised but apparently abandoned, the fact that his former assistant and now Daschle state director broke the ethics rules by engaging in campaign work to stop the new Chamber of Commerce ad, or how the Wall Street Journal said Daschle was hammered in the debate this week? Of course he didn't. He used his column to talk about groups "spending big money to attack Daschle"--like the Chamber of Commerce pointing out Daschle's Senate votes (the horror of it!)--and to talk about how wonderful Daschle is. Perhaps his Sunday article should be named "News from the Daschle Talking Points."
